Grand Paris Express[grand paris]

Ideas were solicited for the design of the 65 Grand Paris Express stations. And Ilex’s role was to orientate the local committees along the lines laid down by the Société du Grand Paris, in particular its Unité Gares, bringing the various participants into a shared culture of public spaces.

Quality of urban life
Ilex began by looking at the identities of the 65 stations, with organisational optimisation and a harmonisation of flows. While remaining fully operational, the idea was that the intermodal public spaces should also appeal to the senses, to wellbeing, and to the poetry of the locations.

The public spaces of tomorrow
Future public spaces will face issues of accessibility, parking, intermodality, ecological and digital mobility, urban nature, amenities, health and time management.
Each of these issues – the ergonomics of public spaces, urban poetics, proximity – needs to be explored. And Ilex will be testing the validity of the different hypotheses in specific strategic locations and case studies, so as to develop new urban methodologies and ambiances.

A laboratory of urban innovation
Having created a market, then assembled a multidisciplinary group of specialists in town planning, landscaping, lighting, social and human sciences, ergonomics, etc., the next step will be taken in early 2017, when Ilex co-organises an exploratory study on innovative recommendations with respect to the needs of tomorrow’s world.
